Amazon Instance Type Support

Engine Yard Cloud supports the Amazon Web Services (AWS) instance types listed below.

Choose the instance type you need based on your data, I/O, and memory requirements.

Standard / General Purpose

Small (32 bit) - 1.7 GB memory, 1 ECU, moderate I/O  (m1.small)

Small (64 bit) - 1.7 GB memory, 1 ECU, moderate I/O  (m1.small)

Medium (32 bit) - 3.75 GB memory, 2 ECU, moderate I/O  (m1.medium)

Medium (64 bit) - 3.75 GB memory, 2 ECU, moderate I/O  (m1.medium)

Large (64 bit) - 7.5 GB memory, 4 ECU, high I/O  (m1.large)

Extra Large (64 bit) - 15 GB memory, 8 ECU, high I/O  (m1.xlarge)

High Memory / Memory Optimized

Extra Large (64 bit) - 17.1 GB memory, 6.5 ECU, moderate I/O  (m2.xlarge)

Double Extra Large (64 bit) - 34.2 GB memory, 13 ECU, high I/O  (m2.2xlarge)

Quadruple Extra Large (64 bit) - 68.4 GB memory, 26 ECU, high I/O  (m2.4xlarge)

High CPU / Compute Optimized

Medium (32 bit) - 1.7 GB memory, 5 ECU, moderate I/O  (c1.medium)

Medium (64 bit) - 1.7 GB memory, 5 ECU, moderate I/O  (c1.medium)

Extra Large (64 bit) - 7 GB memory, 20 ECU, high I/O  (c1.xlarge)

High I/O / Storage Optimized (Limited Access)

Quadruple Extra Large (64 bit) - 60.5 GB memory, 35 ECU, very high I/O  (hi1.4xlarge)
